'Language of Flowers' Rings
In Victorian society, flowers were given by admirers, suitors and lovers to discreetly convey messages of love and emotion. For example, lilies suggested purity, ivy represented fidelity, red chrysanthemum meant 'I love' and the forget-me-not signified true love.
Designed by the London Victorian Ring Co, each floral ring carries a meaning of love and affection. Hand engraved and carved, these designs draw inspiration from Victorian era rings and are individually created and can be custom made as a personalised and unique floral message of your choice. These rings are worn as unique wedding rings or given as romantic rings for special occasions.

View collectionAmethyst Rings
The flawless, deep purple amethyst is the most prized gemstone of the quartz family. This gemstone allows the jeweller to make robust and beautiful engagement rings and jewellery. For those with a February birthday, the amethyst has a special connection, as it is their birthstone.
Amethyst is said to hold the power to inspire a deep-rooted love.
Stylish Victorian women of the 19th century wore faceted gemstones such as the newly popular amethyst. Small diamonds or pearls surrounded the main stone and all the gemstones were mounted in yellow gold.
The Art Nouveau era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries saw a change in approach towards jewellery. In contrast to previous eras, semi-precious gemstones such as amethyst became valued for their colour and form rather than their financial value.
In the Art Deco era of the 1920s and 1930s, amethysts gave jewellery liveliness and interest, especially when placed next to precious stones such as diamonds, including the 1930s favourite baguette cut diamonds.
View our selection of beautifully designed amethyst rings in platinum and gold, or decide to go bespoke with the amethyst engagement ring created especially for you to last a lifetime.

The Art Deco period was one of the most creative periods of jewellery manufacture in the 20th century. Our Art Deco cluster ring collection is created from original ring designs or from vintage rings we have collected over the decades. Geometric patterns using clear-cut, bold shapes characterized the rings of the 1920s and 1930s. There was often an architectural feeling to the Art Deco ring style.

View collectionAsscher Cut Engagement Rings
The unique square shape of the Asscher cut diamond will make your engagement ring stand out. Developed in Amsterdam in 1902, the shape has rows of facets similar to a staircase and each step is sparkling with the beauty of the diamond. The precise lines and distinctive cut corners made this a popular cut for 1920s engagement rings.
Today, choose an Asscher cut diamond to give a timeless charm to vintage and modern rings.
Visit us by appointment in London’s Hatton Garden to view the distinctive collection. The central Asscher cut diamonds come with a GIA certificated diamond and our rings are hallmarked at the London Assay Office.

Baguette Cut Engagement Rings
The baguette cut diamond has a long narrow rectangular shape with a flat top. The diamond has been known as a ‘baton’, a ‘diamant baton’ and even as a ‘stick’ brilliant. This cut first appeared around 1909 and at that time had rounded corners. The cut quickly evolved into the geometric shape with 90-degree corners that we know today.
Today, vintage ring designs are made with single baguette cuts either side of the main gemstones or graduated in a series of diamond steps. For something just a bit different, the tapered baguette is wider at one end and makes an unusual engagement ring when highlighting a central gemstone.

Citrine Rings
Visit us to plan your citrine engagement ring and design a ring that will stand out from the crowd. This gemstone is the yellow variety of quartz and can be fashioned into round, emerald cut or other geometric shapes.
We think about the Art Deco era when hand cutting gave way to machine cutting with its precise shapes. Emerald-cut citrines, with their lovely yellow colour, could contrast with darker gemstones or else glisten together with other translucent gemstones and surrounding diamonds. Going back to the 1800s, citrines were carved into intaglios to be used as seals with their owner’s crest or coat of arms. The Art Nouveau jeweller sought a sensuous and meaningful design in metal. They chose to accent their jewels with semiprecious gemstones such as citrine.
Now in the 21st century, choose a citrine for many reasons. It makes a lovely big stone if you want a big ring to impress. Choose it for its colour ranging from pale yellow to brownish orange. It is November’s birthstone and the gemstone to celebrate your 13th wedding anniversary.
Choose a citrine ring because they are beautiful. And that’s a very good reason.

Cushion Cut Engagement Rings
Cushion cut engagement rings are becoming increasingly desirable today as they combine a romantic vintage shape with all the benefits of modern diamond cutting techniques. This romantic candlelight diamond owes its shape to the old-mine cut of the 1700s with its rounded sides and corners. The candlelight refers to the intense sparkle of diamonds seen in grand ballrooms and palaces, when candles were used to light the rooms before electricity.
What Shape is a Cushion Cut Diamond?
The shape can be either square or rectangular. When looking for a square shape, choose a length/width ratio between 1 and 1.05. This is the most traditional of shape and nearest to the old-mine cut. However, the cushion-cut is not an ordinary shape and there is plenty of scope to choose the diamond to suit your ideal shape. For a rectangular shape, choose a length/width ratio of 1.15 or more.
The cushion cut engagement ring allows you to choose the diamond that suits your style and personality. While other diamond shapes have definite parameters to meet, the cushion cut diamond can have large facets that show a gentle play of light, or an arrangement of smaller facets in the cushion brilliant diamond that gives the sparkling appearance of crushed ice.

View collectionEdwardian Style Cluster Rings
Edwardian cluster rings typically have flowing rounded features or are floral in design. Platinum became very popular around the year 1900. The whiteness and lustre of platinum enhanced the colour of the diamonds in a diamond cluster ring.
The strength of platinum meant that less metal was needed for setting the stones, and this allowed the jeweller to create fine and elegant rings. A millegrain finish was usually applied to the setting edges, adding a characteristic detail to the classic Edwardian ring style.
We have been making jewellery in Hatton Garden in London since 1890. The cluster engagement rings can be viewed in person by appointment.

Edwardian Style Jewellery
1901 - 1910
Edwardian jewellery came from an era that looked to the past for inspiration while using diamonds in profusion together with the hard metal platinum.
A graceful and delicate Edwardian style emerged which combined the flowing lines of recent styles and the details of previous centuries to create jewellery with garlands, bows, laurel motifs and intricate pierced details, many of which continue to inspire Hatton Garden rings today.

Emerald Cut Engagement Rings
Emerald-cut engagement rings are an intriguing choice because the large facets of the gemstone appear to let the viewer look inside the stone. The emerald-cut diamonds and gemstones, including sapphires, aquamarines, emeralds and rubies, are an oasis of calm, inviting the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the stone.
In the 1920s and 1930s, emerald-cut solitaire engagement rings in platinum became a popular Art Deco ring design. Emerald cut rings with baguettes featured the newly introduced rectangular baguette cut diamond, either in pairs next to the main stone or in a stepped configuration.

Emerald Engagement Rings
The green of emerald rings gives an impressive display of colour, reminding us of nature. This lovely May birthstone relates to spring with the promise of new beginnings and pastures new.
One of the most memorable Victorian engagement rings ever made was Prince Albert's gift to his bride, Victoria in 1840. It was a snake - a symbol of eternal love - featuring her emerald birthstone. Emeralds added to the vibrancy of early 20th century Art Deco rings, especially when placed next to diamonds, often baguette cut. Couples also buy emerald rings to celebrate their 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries.
Emeralds are part of the beryl family and traces of the elements chromium and vanadium transform the colourless beryl mineral to the fascinating green hue. The gemstones are mined in regions where geological activity occurred in the remote past.

Good quality rubies in large sizes are the most valuable of all coloured gemstones. Choose to enjoy this magnificent stone for a lifetime in your ruby ring.
The Colour of Luxury
Red is the colour of fire and blood and therefore a ruby is linked to the emotions of love, ardour and liveliness. The gem glows with an intense warmth and wearing a ruby can express a passionate, unrestrained love. Rubies occur in many different shades of red from deep, rich red to a colour with overlays of orange, brown, pink or purple. This ancient symbol of a snake was worn in Greek and Roman eras as charms or amulets to protect the wearer. The snake or serpent is a symbol of eternity and is also associated with several healing deities, including Asclepios, the Greek god of medicine. A snake ring with emerald eyes was given to Queen Victoria as an engagement ring by Prince Albert. The V&A Museum in London has a triple coiled gold ring with ruby eyes that may have been owned by King George IV.

Teal and Green Sapphire Engagement Rings
The alluring colours of green and teal sapphires result from trace elements like iron and titanium within the gemstone’s crystal structure. Teal sapphires are renowned for their striking blend of blue and green tones, which shift beautifully depending on the light. In natural daylight, a teal sapphire often displays a vivid blue-green shimmer, while under artificial light, the blue hues deepen, creating an almost oceanic allure. Each teal sapphire is entirely unique, with varying proportions of green and blue, making every gemstone a one-of-a-kind treasure within our engagement ring selection.
By comparison, a green sapphire showcases lush, earthy tones reminiscent of forest landscapes. While they are less dynamic in their colour shifts, they still captivate with their rich and tranquil hues. Ethically sourced from renowned regions such as Sri Lanka, Australia, and Montana, both teal and green sapphires combine natural beauty with responsible mining practices.
