London Marriage Proposals in the Royal Parks

With all the attention on the Royal Wedding lately, and with the wonderful wedding shoot featured on Wedding Chicks, our minds have turned to the beautiful Royal Parks of London. Each park has a unique landscape, shaped by history, and provides a beautiful and special backdrop to a marriage proposal.

There are eight Royal Parks to choose from, including the more central ones such as Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St. James’s Park, Green Park, Regent’s Park, as well as the exquisite and extensive grounds of Greenwich, Richmond and Bushy Parks.

Each of the parks has individual features that can perfectly suit the moment of asking someone for their hand in marriage. This includes the impressive lake and fountain of St. James’s Park, or a proposal next to the Victorian splendour of the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens; for something alternative you may choose to go down on one knee at the Prime Meridian in Greenwich Park, the reference line for Greenwich Mean Time.

All the Royal Parks offer different backdrops of beauty, from the gardens themselves to some of the most majestic buildings.

In particular, we love St. James’s Park for all its royal splendour with Horse Guards Parade and The Mall as well as being close to landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Whitehall. There are impressive scenes wherever you look within the 57 acres of greenery; it even has resident pelicans who have lived in the park for nearly 400 years, a gift from the Russian Ambassador to King Charles II.
