Visit the Barbican Centre to view one of London’s best examples of Brutalist architecture. The centre houses the largest multi-arts and conference centre in Europe. The London Symphony Orchestra is based there and the Centre hosts libraries for children, the arts and music. The Museum of London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama are in the grounds.
Building work began in 1971 and the Centre was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1982. Despite its young age, the Barbican Centre complex is a Grade II listed building.
