Platinum became very
popular around the year 1900. The whiteness and lustre of platinum
enhanced the colour of the diamonds. The strength of platinum meant that
less metal was needed for setting the stones, and this allowed the
jeweller to create fine and elegant rings. A millegrain finish was
usually applied to the setting edges. |
